| Palolem beach also called the 'Paradise Beach" in Canacona, the Southmost town of Goa. This mile-long beach is very picturesque, with shady palm tree and silvery sand. At the far end is an island-like promontory and you can walk to it during low tide. During evenings, the beach is beautifully lit. There are colourful lampshades in shacks made of rice straw, jute, bamboo, paper mache or plain cloth.The shacks lend colour to the coastline at night.
How to get here: Palolem Beach is in the center of coastal Canacona in South Goa. You can take a taxi from Dabolim Airport (67kms), Margao Station (43kms), and Panaji (76kms).
Things to do and see: To the northern end of the beach is a fresh water stream that encircles a small island. You can cross over to the island when the tide is low. For those intrested in marine life, there are cruises to spot dolphins. For the diehard anglers, ther are fishing trips. The other options are visiting Cabo da Rama Fort and Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary.
